the danger of a single story

The storyteller is a woman. Because she had read the story of the British and American life since childhood, So the people in her story are all white,  they play in the snow, eat apples and ginger beer.  But the fact is that she grew up in Nigeria, and she even has not seen ginger beer. Thus, she concluded that children are easily influenced by a story.  From then on, she began to write everything she was familiar with.  For the only impact of Fide's family was very poor, however, they have their own production of things.  and also, her american roommate had the single story about Africa,  she had been labeled as an African.  after a few years, she also influenced by media in mexico.  But when she really dissolved into the Mexican life, was surprised to find that most of the original Mexicans are kind, life is comfortable, happy.
In other words, whether it is the girl or her American roommate, because the geographical differences, people understand a strange country or region, only through a particular literature, film and television works, or through a novel, or by a video recording. And this is often very single, very one-sided, and can not represent a comprehensive, real situation.
